The reason behind the run

This means more than crossing a finish line.

Kris is preparing to take on his first London Marathon in 2027, running 26.2 miles in support of Whizz Kidz.

For Kris, this challenge is about much more than crossing a finish line. He has experienced difficulties with his mental health throughout his life, and running has become an important part of looking after his wellbeing.

Exercise gives him focus, structure and a positive goal. It helps build his confidence and self-esteem, encourages him to connect with other people and gives him a sense of purpose during difficult periods.

By taking on the London Marathon, Kris wants to push himself further than ever before while turning that personal challenge into something that can improve the lives of others.

Personal connectionWhy Whizz Kidz?

Kris’s support for Whizz Kidz has a personal meaning. His brother-in-law Brett is a wheelchair user, giving Kris and his family a real understanding of how important mobility, confidence and independence can be.

Whizz Kidz supports young wheelchair users with tailored equipment, wheelchair skills, social opportunities and practical information. The goal is not simply getting from one place to another; it is greater choice, independence and confidence to take part.

That personal connection is why every training mile and every donation carries a purpose beyond the marathon itself.

Why Whizz Kidz

The right wheelchair can change everything.

Whizz Kidz creates opportunities for young wheelchair users to get the equipment, skills and confidence they need to go further — at home, at school, at work and beyond.

That support can mean tailored wheelchairs and equipment, practical wheelchair skills, opportunities to meet other young people and information that helps families navigate everyday life.

Every donation on this page is working towards that purpose.
